The Langley Arts Council (LAC) is delighted to report that following the
pilot program we ran in the summer we have once again leased the Coast
Capital building at 20550 Fraser Hwy. in downtown Langley. This 15,000 sq.
ft. two story building will feature galleries, on both floors. In addition
to up to 30 artists in residence, the space will allow the Arts Council to
offer seminars, art talks, workshops, small theatre productions, poetry
slams, receptions and other events and programs.

We have constructed a small stage area on the lower gallery to enable live
music and other performances on a daily basis and hope to have a piano there
soon. The gallery will be open from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Saturday,
starting January 28th.

With a one year lease and an option to purchase the property, we now have a
furnished office complex that includes a member lounge/library and several
board rooms, small and large. We would welcome requests from members and
member groups to use these rooms from time to time. The larger board room
seats up to 20 and the smaller board rooms up to 10 people.

Responding to the requests from members and member groups, the LAC wishes to
make available the numerous office spaces on our second floor. These are
separate entrance office suites that we hope to see used as a music studio
and to a variety of uses and other types of art and cultural activities.

In addition, we have two upper galleries that can be used for workshops and
other activities. One has a kitchen. These can accommodate 20 to 30 people
each. We would be delighted to discuss these spaces with any group who may
have an interest and would welcome enquiries, for the occasional use, or on
a constant basis.

NEW FRONTIER: The LAC is exploring the possibilities of being more involved
with health and wellness, using arts and culture as a focus in this area. We
have commissioned two senior nursing students to approach some of our member
groups and other community partner groups to investigate how we can work
together with members in this area. We are particularly interested in
utilizing our new space to offer programs that might incorporate health and
wellness activities. Should your group wish to be included in this process,
please let us know at your earliest convenience.

The Galleries will open on January 28th. Should you wish to view any of the
spaces please drop by. Someone is at the gallery most days until the
opening. Or phone for an appointment. Don 604-649-7234 or Rosemary
