The Langley Arts Council, in cooperation with the City of Langley and the Township of Langley created exhibit spaces in the high traffic locations of both the City and Township administrative buildings, plus we joint venture by hosting exhibits each year the Langley Centennial Museum.
The administrative building locations required the installation of gallery hardware to enable the professional hanging of art pieces. This program is ably coordinated by LAC director, Rosemary Wallace.
With this expansive exhibit space, the Langley Arts Council offers local artists a variety of Exhibitions consecutively through the year. The Exhibits range from youth and emerging artists, to juried exhibits, such as Horse Power which is now exhibiting at the administration building of the Langley City Hall, and the Fraser Valley Biennale exhibit, currently showing at The Reach Gallery Museum. An average of eight separate exhibits are showcased each year though these various spaces.
Because of the publicly accessed locations, thousands of residents and visitors are able to enjoy and view this art. To date, each exhibit has been well received, from those attending the opening receptions, to the staff in each location and the public visiting the locations, or attending especially to view the exhibits on a daily basis. This has enabled Langley Arts Council to showcase on a continuing basis, the many and varied artistic works of our members and associates and is now considered our most successful ongoing program.
In addition, we continue to be open to using corporate locations, such as coffee shops, businesses and banks in which to show case art.
